In the evening, with the children in bed, Walter would occasionally lay out in the front yard on the hammock strung between two palms. On a clear starlight evening, he’d drink a local beer and look up at the sky wondering if some of the extra bright dots were satellites. Many times he’d catch Richard outside as well, reclining in an Adirondack chair, face illuminated by the screen of his e-reader.
